The Jean Monnet Chair “EU Budgetary Governance and Audit” at the University of Macedonia participated in the International Fraud Awareness Week 2020 (15-21 November 2020), organized by the Association of Certified Fraud Examiners (ACFE). More specifically, the Chair participated as “Supporter” in the Virtual Anti-Fraud Tech Fair organized by ACFE/Greece on 15-21 November 2020, during which issues such as the role and contribution of technology in establishing effective internal control schemes and formulating good governance practices for combating fraud, by using modern technological tools and solutions at national, European and international level, were examined. Furthermore, the Chairholder, Professor Dimitrios Skiadas presented, at the Virtual Fair, a paper on "Combating fraud in the projects financed by the EU Structural Funds", highlighting the typology of fraudulent behaviour and the preventive and corrective actions to be taken in that context, and focusing on the possibilities provided by new technologies in that respect. The Chair would like to thank ACFE/Greece for this cooperation, and looks forward to the next common activity.
