The Jean Monnet Chair “EU Budgetary Governance and Audit” of the Department of International and European Studies at the University of Macedonia, within the Jean Monnet Module “Protection of EU financial interests against Fraud”, on 16.5.2023, organized a lecture, having as guest speaker the Executive Director of the European Center for Vocational Education and Training (CEDEFOP), Dr. Jurgen Siebel. The topic of the lecture was “Antifraud within the EU framework”. The lecture took place in Auditorium 4 of the University of Macedonia and was attended by many undergraduate and postgraduate students. Dr. Siebel first gave a general presentation of the structure, operation, and mission of CEDEFOP, within the institutional context of the EU, and then focused on the actions to protect the financial interests of the EU from fraud and corruption phenomena, using as a central axis of analysis the relevant regulations, policies, and practices adopted by CEDEFOP to manage such risks.
After the lecture, there was a very interesting dialogue between the audience and the speaker. At the end of the event, the holder of the Jean Monnet Chair and President of the Department of International and European Studies, Professor D. Skiadas, informed the students about the constant cooperation of the Department with CEDEFOP and the planned educational visit to it, after the end of the summer examination period.
The event was also attended by the Rector of the University, Professor St. Katranidis, and the elected member of the Board of Management of the University Professor Chr. Nikas.
