The Jean Monnet Chair “EU Budgetary Governance and Audit” of the University of
Macedonia, in the framework of the implementation of the Jean Monnet Module EU
ANTIUFRAUD, participated in the conference «Europe, Entrepreneurship and Sustainable
Development Forum of Rhodes» (EESD Forum) with a key note speech by its Scientific
Director, Professor Dim. Skiadas, on the topic “Youth Participation as a condition for
integrity in local development” (here) and in conducting a Masterclass on “Youth Entrepreneurship
and Fraud Prevention” (here). The content of the presentations dealt with important aspects of
integrity and anti-fraud actions in the contemporary environment, especially at European
level, with a focus on the activity of young people as social, political and economic actors.
The young people who attended these activities showed a particular interest in the fight
against corruption, which they consider a major obstacle and disincentive to their own
political and/or entrepreneurial initiatives. Thus, in cooperation with the Municipality of
Rhodes, the Jean Monnet Chair is involved in the preparation of an institutional initiative of
youth intervention in public policy and entrepreneurship issues, aiming at consolidating
integrity in business and the management of public policies and resources, i.e. actions that
contribute crucially to the fight against fraud and corruption, which are the main focus of
the Jean Monnet Module EU-ANTIFRAUD.
