The third Newsletter of the Jean Monnet Chair ‘’EU Budgetary Governance and Audit’’ embarks on the presentation of the proposal for the Multiannual Financial Framework 2021 - 2027, which was submitted on May 2, 2018 by the European Commission (EC). This proposal includes spending cuts in some areas of policy and increases in others, which are being upgraded to new key EU priorities. Moreover, an assessment, on behalf of the European Court of Auditors (ECA), of this proposal is herein encompassed. The ECA’s analysis, having first positively assessed the whole proposal, described as "welcome" the link between the EU funding and the rule of law; however, it called for the criteria to be clarified more precisely and for the sources to be explicitly stated. Regarding the academic initiatives taken place during the latest months, the Newsletter highlights the Chair's participation in the conference on "European Policies in the EU", organised by the Jean Monnet Center of Excellence of the University of Macedonia (16 and 17 May 2018), as well as the undertaking of the all-day teaching on "EU Institutional and Fiscal Challenges from the Refugee Crisis", as part of the seminar for the rights of refugees, migrants and asylum seekers coordinated by the Centre of International and European Economic Law in cooperation with the Frederick University of Cyprus (within the framework of the "Training for a European Area of Justice" scheme of the EU's JUSTICE program). Furthermore, the Chair participated at the 16th Regular Scientific Conference of the European Society of Regional Science, held at the Institute of Regional Development of Panteion University on June 22 and 23, 2018, presenting an analysis on "The evolution of the Regional Administration into Regional Governance so at National level as at EU level". Finally, the Chair participated in July 2018 in the Summer School on "The European Union as an international factor" organized in Mytilene by the Jean Monnet Network GovUnet and hosted by the University of the Aegean. The main focus of the Chair's presentation was on the topic "Public Administration applied to Foreign Policy and Regulatory European Governance".
