Mr Ilias Konstantakopoulos, Public Prosecutor and Justice Counsellor at the Permanent Representation of Greece to the E.U., delivered a lecture on “The establishment of the European Public Prosecutor and the protection of Union’s financial interests”

Within the framework of its Guest Lectures scheme, the Jean Monnet Chair “EU Budgetary Governance and Audit” of the University of Macedonia has invited and presented, on Wednesday, 27.3.2019, during the course “European Policies of Convergence and International Assistance” Mr Ilias Konstantakopoulos, Public Prosecutor, Justice Counsellor at the Permanent Representation of Greece to the EU, and member of the working group on establishing the European Public Prosecutor’s Office, who delivered a lecture on “The establishment of the European Public Prosecutor’s Office and the protection of the financial interests of the EU”. The lecture focused on the regulatory framework regarding the organization, operation and funding of the recently established European Public Prosecutor’s Office, the dynamics developed among the EU institutions which affect this Office’s operation, its relationship with other institutions and bodies of EU which have competence on protecting the EU’s financial interests, etc, aiming at providing the students with an in-depth view of how the EU’s institutional framework is evolving and the mechanism for protecting the Union’s financial interests has been developed.
